For Solo Travellers

Solo Traveller 2 slider

HEY SAILOR – yes I mean you! How about a 7 day sailing trip designed just for solo sailors starting at $1050.

FEB 16 – 23, 2018

Travelling on your own can be frustrating when everything is priced for couples! So we have designed a package at a special price for solo travellers! You choose if you want to bunk in the crew quarters or if you want to have a berth to yourself. We are reducing the price because in these days YOU will become a sailor! As part of the crew, we all pitch in together to sail, cook, and provision, prep the boat, clean the boat and participate as research assistants for our Citizen Science Program with The 5 Gyres Institute.

Sleeping Quarters!

This is how it works. There is a cabin called Crew Quarters which is 2 bunk beds. Each bunk will be priced at $150 per person/per day. There are two cabins that are considered doubles. It is priced at $200 per day. IF you have a friend that you are comfortable sleeping close to – think camping in a tent kind of close – then the price is $300 per cabin per day for two of you.

What’s expected of me! No prior sailing experience required. But it’s good to know in advance if you are susceptible to sea sickness. When in doubt, bring medication. Basic fitness and agility is required for moving around the boat as it is in constant motion, and you need to be able to climb in and out of the ocean using the swim ladder. As a sailor, we all pitch in to take care of each other, the boat, and the common areas.

Included: Boat, Captain, Crew, Fuel, towels, linens, pillows and basic provisioning for food. We will prep groceries assuming everyone is an omnivore. We can make provisions for vegetarians. Contact us if your diet is very specific.

Mmmmm It’s Gourmet! Meals: The groceries will be purchased and stocked on the boat in advance. We try to buy local and sustainably sourced food items. The cooking duties will be split evenly. Alcohol and preferred or specialty food items will be purchased by each person. We supply fresh cookies from the bakery but do not supply snacks like potato chips and pop. You may wish to stock your own stash of snacks. We will be eating out for 3 dinners. Two of these dinners are on remote tiny islands, beach BBQs 60-100USD. Budget 100USD + if you plan for lobster and wine. One of the dinners will be less than $40 if you are budget conscious. Check out our grocery list and suggested menu below.

Extra fees: Guests split the cost of mooring, immigration charges and park fees. Sometimes we anchor without charge.

Not Included: flights, taxi, onshore excursions, on shore meals and additional preferred snacks and groceries.
