The countries of Grenada, Saint Vincent, Saint Lucia, Martinique and Dominica are called the Windward Islands of the Caribbean.
From our base in Secret Harbour Resort and Marina, Grenada we explore the Windward Island cruising turquoise bays and the beautiful beaches of Carriacou, Tobago Cays, Petit St Vincent, Petit Martinique, Union Island, Mayreau, Tobago Cays, Canouan, Mystique, Bequia, Saint Vincent, St Lucia plus plenty of other spectacular islands speckled along the way.
Island hopping the Windward Islands is known to be the best cruising sailing in the world for many reasons. For any visitor, the warm, clear waters are spectacular. The direction of the trade winds allows for easy sailing. Winds are consistently 10-25 knots. We are mostly sailing on the leeward side of the islands with occasional open seas, where you will always be within sight of land. In the Caribbean the tide range is very small: 30 cm to 90 cm (1-3 ft), including the variation of level due to atmospheric pressure and dominant winds. Current is normally westerly up to 2.5 knots. Occasionally we may experience a squall (brief, intense showers) but its typically clear sailing!
During our winter season, temperatures are 24 – 28C.
